Dieting
Your chiropractor is trained in nutrition and how diet affects your health and well-being. To Dr. Maurer and Dr. Steinle, nutrition comprises more than simply eating three meals a day. The chiropractic profession views nutrition as the materials needed to maintain your health, and includes the vitamins, mineral, and tissue building quality of what you eat. Some foods should be avoided, while others consumed more frequently. You should consult your chiropractor directly for your specific nutrient requirements, but there is a general list to consider.
You should avoid:
- Smoking and Alcohol
- White refined sugar and candy
- Junk Food” and empty calories
- Caffeine, found in coffee and cola drinks
- Salt and foods high in salt content
You should increase your intake of:
- Water
- Fruits and Vegetables
- Whole grain breads and cereal
- Lean cut red meats
- Fish and Poultry
- Skin Milk and low fat dairy products
Remember, your specific condition may require special dietary requirements, consult Family Back & Neck Care Centre to learn more.

Hello my name is Laura Critten and I first became a patient in June of ’07. In 2005 I became aware of severe pain in my back. Because of this pain I couldn’t stand or walk. I suffered from headaches, I couldn’t sleep and I had no energy. I tried different kinds of treatments such as medications and surgery but the only results from these treatments were severe pain and loss of movement. Within two weeks of starting chiropractic care I had more mobility and less pain. I was able to stand in lines and walk a short distance. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Dr. Maurer is good at explaining treatments and how they work.
I know there is so much controversy between chiropractic and medical care, but if it were not for chiropractic I would still be in pain. A car accident left me with constant lower back pain. I tried everything from painkillers to preparing to have surgery. I heard stories from my friends who had surgery and to this day wish they never had it. So I decided to go to a chiropractor before the surgery and I am so thankful that I did. My back pains are gone and I am living my life to the fullest and pain free.
